The largest bus terminal in the country is inaugurated

The Metropolitan Bus Terminal was inaugurated this wednesday, February 10, in the city of El Alto. It is the largest bus terminal in the country and the second largest in Latin America after the Sao Paulo terminal in Brasil.

With an investment of around 250 million Bolivians, this modern terminal is built on a large area approximately the size of 12 regulatory soccer fields. Among its most outstanding features are: a heliport that will be used for medical emergencies, a hotel available for passengers and drivers who wish to stay one night, and mechanical workshops for fleet maintenance.

It also has parking spaces for 300 private vehicles, 58 spaces for the buses that are waiting for passengers to board, an exclusive area for parcel and shipping services, and offices available for police, immigration, children’s advocates and customs personnel.

In this bus terminal you can find not only interdepartamental transport service, but also international service with ticket office spaces for 72 bus companies. It also has a particular architectural appeal with a 630 linear meter hanging walkway that makes it the largest in the country.

Relaxation spaces for passengers and their companions with a micro-market, food court, cultural area for artistic presentatios and space for the sale of handicrafts and souvenirs. You can find this modern terminal in the Bolivar D area, on Ladislao Cabrera avenue: map.

It is expected that by May of this year a large part of the transportation companies will already operate from this terminal and there will be an internal flow thanks to a public invitation for companies whishing to settle in this terminal.
