From Santa Cruz to Uyuni by bus, with a stop in Sucre

Santa Cruz is one of Bolivia’s most important cities with its warm, inviting climate and steady economic growth. From Santa Cruz to Sucre by bus

Sucre and Santa Cruz are two of the most important cities in Bolivia; Sucre, the capital, is a very popular tourist destination due to its historical richness and colonial architecture. Santa Cruz, on the other hand, is a modern city with a tropical climate and thriving economy. The distance between Santa Cruz and Sucre is 502 km, and the trip takes around 13 hours. In order to travel by bus from Santa Cruz to Sucre you can take a direct bus. They leave every day at 15:30 from the Bimodal Terminal of Santa Cruz, locate on Montes Av. Before boarding the bus, you need to pay a small fee called “Uso de Terminal“, which costs 2 Bolivianos. The buses arrive in Sucre at 05:00 am at the Bus Terminal, located on Ostria Rodriguez St.

If you want to stay in Sucre a few days, there are plenty of things to see and enjoy, such as the Parque Cretácico, where you can see real dinosaur tracks and life-like representations of the dinosaurs that populated the land in the Cretaceous period. From Sucre to Uyuni by bus

The town of Uyuni lies at a distance of 361 km from Sucre. Uyuni is known for being the entry gate to the greatest Salt Flat in the world. At an altitude of over 3,000 meters above sea level, the Uyuni Salt Flat is characterized by its surrealistic landscape. During the eight-hour trip you can see an extraordinary landscape surrounded by the Andes mountain rage, passing by different villages such as Yotala, Betanzos, Potosi, Porco, Pulacayo and finally Uyuni. A few km from Uyuni there are extraordinary places where you will feel you are entering a whole different world, making this destination a magnificent experience, full of beauty, magic and adrenaline.

Among the places that can be visited are a train cemetery, ‘eyes of the salt’ (big holes of water underneath the salt flat), Incahuasi island, walks through Dali`s desert and other places that make the Uyuni Salt Flat  one of the most visited destinations for both local and international tourists. To travel from Sucre to Uyuni you have to go to the bus station in Sucre, located on Ostria Gutierrez Avenue. The buses leave at 9:30, 17:30 and 20:30.
